Have A Happy Impeachment Year With Tom Steyer 2020

We are very happy that Trump impeachment proceedings have begun. This is a year for the history books. Tom Steyer has been campaigning and enabling grassroots activism. Get a free impeachment commemorative sticker and read about his fair housing policy.

Today, the House Judiciary Committee holds its first hearing in the impeachment inquiry of Donald Trump.

The American people are finally seeing in transparent public hearings what Tom has been saying for years: Trump is a fraud and a failure who is using the office of the president to serve himself at the expense of our national security and the well-being of our country.

Tom called for Donald Trump’s impeachment before any other candidate, and long before it was the politically popular position. Now it’s happening, thanks to you — and to the 8 million others who joined Tom’s grassroots movement to demand action from Democratic leaders. When we lead from the outside, with the power of the American people, we can create real change in Washington’s broken system.

We need to impeach Donald Trump, restore trust in the office of the president, and replace him with a leader who stands with the people.

Home lending crunchWhen we talk about inequality in America

We have to talk about what’s happened with housing. Where you live determines the air you breathe, the water you drink, the school you send your kids to, where you’re able to buy groceries for your family, how long it takes you to get to work, and so much more.

Right now, the corporations that have taken over our housing stock are letting big banks and luxury developers make these choices for us. Safe, affordable housing — developed with climate-smart infrastructure — has to be available for everyone. I’ve just released my Affordable Housing framework, and I hope you’ll take a moment to read through how I propose to tackle the housing crisis.

I live in San Francisco, where the stark reality of this housing crisis plays out every day. More than 17,000 people are forced to sleep on the streets. Rents are skyrocketing out of control. Home ownership for many young people — and especially for people of color — feels like an impossible dream from a long-past era.

But where there’s injustice, there’s also opportunity. We have a chance here to undo the policies that brought us into this crisis, and work together on environmentally-friendly housing solutions to last us for the long run.

The American people are finally seeing in transparent public hearings what Tom has been saying for years: Trump is a fraud and a failure who is using the office of the president to serve himself at the expense of our national security and the well-being of our country.

When we officially became an organization and wrote our fundraising philosophy back in May of 2017, we made two important promises to you, our movement.

First, we made a promise that we would be accountable to you. To do that, we vowed to not take money from corporations, political figures or parties, or special interests. And we’ve continued to be successful at that strategy.

Second, we made a commitment to be transparent and honest about our fundraising. Right now, we’ve only raised about 32% ($41,713) of our Giving Tuesday goal of $130,000. We still have time to catch up — but we absolutely cannot do it without you. So we’re going to ask you again to make an investment in our movement. Here’s why:

We try our hardest not to treat our emails like an ATM. We only ask for money when we really have something to fund. Our development team seeks out real, matching donors (often a generous donor or a foundation who really likes our work) to match your donation one-for-one.

We view your donation as an investment. An investment in the thousands of Indivisible groups across the country. An investment in what we believe (and tens of thousands of activists across the country have used!) to be a winning strategy. And it’s an investment in an inclusive, progressive future.

So if you can, consider investing in our movement today. A generous donor is matching up to $100,000 in gifts made today — so if you’ve been putting off giving (or giving again), now’s the time because for every dollar you give, we get two!

If you’ve saved your information with ActBlue Express Lane, your donation to Indivisible Civics will go through immediately:

$10 becomes $20!
$25 becomes $50!
$50 becomes $100!
Another amount — it’s doubled!

We knew today’s goal was an ambitious one, but that’s because our organizational goals are ambitious. We set ambitious goals because we know that one way or another, together we can make them happen.

And that’s what we’re doing again today: asking for your support, for your investment in building something to last. For 2019, 2020, and beyond.

This year, grassroots donations from this movement funded three core pieces of our work. They’re not sexy or flashy, but they’re vital to sustaining this movement.

  • We built tools for thousands of Indivisible groups. We provided nationwide access to canvassing and phone banking tools so Indivisible groups could talk to their friends and neighbors to mobilize and building long-lasting power.
  • We connected you with improved tools to resist. With a redesigned site, an upgraded event map, and investments in tools, Indivisible supporters can far more easily get engaged with their nearest group, find nearby events, and contact their members of Congress.
  • We expanded our organizing team so we could fight everywhere. We have 9 brand new, stellar organizers this year, and we now have organizers working in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.

As we look into 2020 and 2021, our goal is to build a movement that will last. That means we’re investing in more staff to improve trainings and support groups in more ways and in tools that will give our members more effective ways to communicate. But we can only do that work with your help. So if you can, make an investment in our movement today. We’ve secured a matching grant and your donation will be matched one-for-one.

Thanks, as always, for your support. Literally none of our work would be possible without the hard work (and, yes, donations!) you put into this movement.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
