Here is how Attorney General William Barr answered the American people.
Rep Cicilline: Is it ever appropriate serve for the president to solicit or accept foreign assistance in an election?
William Barr: It depends what kind of assistance.
Rep Cicilline: Is it ever appropriate for the president or presidential candidate to accept or solicit foreign assistance of any kind in his or her election?
William Barr: No, it’s not appropriate.
Rep Cicilline:OK. I saw how you had to struggle with that.

 

Here is Malcolm Nance calling in for Joy Reid.

Joy Ried:

I’m joined now by Chuck Rosenberg former US Attorney and senior FBI official, and Malcolm Nance, MSNBC counter-terrorism and intelligence analyst. Malcolm I’m going to go to you first what did you make of the struggle for William Barr to answer that question.
Malcolm Nance:
Utterly stunning, but also not unexpected. Look, this man tows the party line. His job is to cover for the president. There’s one thing that I’ve learned in all my time when I was at the National Security Agency and listening to people talk. The first thing that comes out of their mouth is the truth. The second time, when he said absolutely not, was the lie. He really does not have a problem with this. He is working in the interest of Donald Trump and I’m sure when they sit down and couch these conversations they have. They try to find justifications like, it’s not actual foreign assistance if the Russians give it to an American and an American uses it. This is where Donald Trump is going to try to finesse all of the assistance he’s calling for.
Whether it’s Saudis, North Koreans, which is a real threat that we need to watch out for. The Chinese who I think are not as much a threat as the Russians. Or the vigilantes that he seems to have set up all around the world.
Joy Ried:
Let me play for you Chuck. This is Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon and she’s asking William Barr about Donald Trump’s claims that foreign countries, you know he doesn’t care about foreign interference. Except he claims foreign countries will interfere with mail-in ballots. Here is Mr Barr
Ms Scanlon: Last month you echoed the president’s conspiracy theory. When you suggested in at least three interviews that quote, foreign countries could manufacture counterfeit ballots end quote, to influence the presidential election, correct? You did that in at least three interviews?

Bill Barr:
Yes.
Ms Scanlon:
Okay, but in fact, you have no evidence that foreign countries can successfully sway our elections with counterfeit ballots do you?
Bill Barr:
No I don’t, but I have common sense. [More like, common knowlege in Trump’s circle who are working as Russian sabeteurs! -Ed.]

Joy Ried:
I just wanna get Malcolm to answer whether that even sounds credible to you. As an intelligence man, that foreign countries would do that?
Malcolm Nance:
No, not at all.
You know, poor Chuck. He’s a law enforcement guy, listening to the chief law enforcement officer of the United States lie right to the American public. No one has ever done this. Ever, and he is trying to put out there that this is going to happen. Scurrilous!

Here’s A Stephanie Miller Show Interview

Malcolm Nance commentary on all out authoritarian power play against a free and fair election. Nancy Pelosi right when we saw Trump musing about delaying the election. She said, “Where’d he get that idea, Putin?”
I’m pretty sure the conversation went like this.

Stephanie Miller:
Oh, hello sailor. Good morning, um. Do you want to start with no reporters asking about the Russian bounty on our soldiers’ heads? Or do you want to start with the Russian disinformation campaign that Ron Johnson and the Republicans are currently using to try and disparage Joe Biden right before the election? Where would you like to start?
Malcolm Nance:
Maybe they were all just overwhelmed by uh the secret police deploying all around the United States. I understand they’re coming to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore. They’ve already been spotted there in Baltimore. Chicago, other major cities. So, you know, things like Ron Johnson going out and mis-characterizing. This ridiculous attempt to use pro-Moscow Ukrainian supplied, uh, data that came from the exact same people that gave Trump the information. Or gave to Rudy Giuliani the information, that got trump impeached!
They’re going all out. They’re just going to say and do whatever they can in the run-up to this election and try to smear Joe Biden. Now they’re using a United States Senator. Who, you know, I would not be surprised to find out that he has an apartment in Moscow. I mean, it’s just t’s just incredible just how many of these people who. They know they’re doing this but to save Trump they will betray the country and their oaths of office.
Stephanie Miller:
Yeah. Well we’ve had this conversation how many times? That they didn’t, the founders didn’t, count on an entire party being co-opted by a foreign enemy. I mean, this is where we really are heading into. Not just the most dangerous period. The most dangerous election. Maybe the last election. I mean, there is Shouty McShout Face. There’s no level of shoutiness that is shouty enough for this moment in our history. Is there?
Malcolm Nance:
No and this is why I emphasize that i’m not the one who has to be shouty. You all have to be shouty now! This last week was utterly amazing. Because there’s no bottom. They will continue to keep going lower and lower.
The one thing they cannot apparently stand is civil protest in accordance to the Constitution of the United States. For right to free speech and right to redress and right to freely and peaceably assemble. They can’t stand it to the point where they’ve created this this cobbled together police force. Made up of x-ray machine operators and border patrol ranch hands, and are bringing them into the cities to act like they are protecting the country. By the way, I’ve read the document for the protecting american cities task force. They’re assigned. If you want to read a really good summary go to law fair. They are assigned to protect the front entrances of the federal buildings, federal property right to the curb, and any statue. But this was done specifically to protect confederate statues. I mean, if anything. We should bein the express line to taking down all of those statues. In order to keep these secret police from attacking city citizens.
Stephanie Miller:
Speaking of having to defend Bush Administration people. Like whether it’s a Cheney. Tom Ridge just said the Department of Homeland Security was created to protect Americans after 9 11. Not to be the president’s personal police force. You heard of General Russell Honore of course who was in charge of after katrina. Did you hear him. He said a dirty word on CNN.

As you see right here. He beat this man up. You can’t, you should, police don’t do this! Watch this. What kind of B.S.!? These wolves need to be run out of Washington! He has no business in charge of homeland security.

Stephanie Miller:
Yeah By the way. You gave us a pop quiz, Malcolm. You said, I don’t need invitations by the state mayors or state governors to do our job. We’re going to do that whether they like us there or not. Was that British General Thomas Gage in Boston 1775 or first u.s secret police chief Chad Wolfe, and i’m going to say both. Was it both of them?
Malcolm Nance:
A historically correct answer! General gage was sent to the colonies with the specific mission to put down all of the states. To dissolve state representatives. In this case, the Boston Massachusetts Legislature and to bring them under their control. No matter what the locals cared or thought about. This is insane. We are literally channeling the British in 1775 right now and Donald Trump, I suspect, is expecting that this is going to be, you know. He thinks he’s doing this strong law and order thing.
I’m afraid that there are people within that department who have volunteered for this duty. Who think that it might be a good thing to spark a civil war. It might be a good thing to have shooting going on. That they think that they have superior firepower. These people can and must be held accountable. Individually. Right down to the officer. They can have civil suits put against them. They are federal employees. They can be identified and they can be brought to court if they hurt somebody. Like the the guy, I want to know the name of the border patrol cop in Portland Oregon who said if you follow us we will shoot you. That man right there. Someone needs to get a lawyer onto that and get some money.
Stephanie Miller:
Yeah. Well you tweeted. Warning there it is. Wolfe, the first official chief of the secret police in American history telling America your state local elected representatives don’t matter in their authoritarian secret war on the Constitution.
I thought of you because you’re, of course, a Navy man. But that big guy, the vet in a Navy sweatshirt and they’re just beating on them and you know he’s my hero. Because they’re beating on him and what is it? Macing him whatever they’re spraying him with, and he turns around and double birds them. Right, but they broke his hand.
Malcolm Nance:
You know what? There’s no protections here. This is the- if the George Floyd incident hasn’t taught us something. We are now going into the second phase of this, and I, and this with love to my friends who are law enforcement officers, who are federal protective officers. Policing in the United States needs to be fundamentally turned on its head. If they cannot comply, officers need to be fired. Until they can get officers that will comply. There needs to be a national disgraced cop database. So that they can be put out and not hired by some podunk police force. You know, where they can go out and buy armored vehicles. We have to demilitarize them and they need to stop this warrior cop mindset. Where they think they are in a war against American citizens.
Where are those right-wing oath keepers and those right-wing three percenters who claim that they formed their militias. To stop, to get sworn law enforcement officers and military people to not attack American citizens? These are the people who went nuts when special forces held a training exercise called jade helm. That had nothing to do with operations in the United States. There were these mirror image operations in Russia and China that were just being held in West Texas, but these hillbillies all show up with rifles. Claiming that the US government is occupying the country. I notice they support Donald Trump’s secret police almost to a man. They don’t want to be on it, they think the militias have a role in it.
We’re in a very dangerous place.

Stephanie Miller:
Where do you get the idea you think for little green men? You know, like they used in uh Crimea? Well who’s which which friend of his did he get this idea from? Do you think?

Malcolm Nance:
Um Vladimir Putin?!
If you guys ever wonder where my ranty comes from. I am doing a very decent general Russell Honore. Yes, these days. That guy is sincere. 100 percent miffed about all this He’s the one who came up with the phrase secret police. This is a man who saved an american city, disarmed the troops. To stop going out in patrolling areas, but to actually go rescue citizens and now he’s seeing his country turned upside down. Where guns and threats are being pointed at American citizens. Like they are the East German Stasi or Saddam Hussein’s Muhabarrat. This is insane and that’s the thing I really am miffed about this week. We can go on and on about foreign disinformation. That is not going to kill me right away. Y ou know, somebody who objects to what you and I, or Jill Wine-Banks says, could pull us over or um what did Chad Wolfe call it? Proactive arrest? Proactively arresting people.
Yeah well Jill Wine-Banks has a broach. So I would not mess with her if I were them. She has a broach and she was she will pin you, and not in a good way. Malcolm, real quick before we go. This Ghislaine Maxwell moment yesterday. Just stunning. “I wish her well.” You’re like, clearly this is a message. Do you want to end up like Epstein or do you want to end up like Roger Stone. I mean, it was stunning and I, okay and you also said, of the gunman disguised as a FedEx delivery driver broke into a New Jersey home of federal judge Esther Salas. Killing her son and wounding her husband. You said Nance’s law, coincidence takes a lot of planning.
Just assigned four days previous to the Deutsche Bank, Epstein Case.
Malcolm Nance:
And well you know, he had a lot of issues. We have to be objective about this here but he was phenomenally pro-Trump. Horribly, horribly misogynistic, anti-feminist. and his goal was to punish her by killing her husband and son. Successfully killing her 20 year old son. If I were the FBI, I would definitely be going after this, on a did someone set him up to do it. We don’t know. We don’t have any grounds for that, but let me talk about just Ghislaine Maxwell for a second. You’re talking about a president of the United States who just wished well a woman who was arrested for human trafficking in underage children, pedophilia, and for acting as a pimp. What is going on here? Why are the media, not Morning Joe, burned for an hour over this, this morning? Donald Trump has only said this to Mike Flynn, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, and now a a human sex trafficker, Ghislaine Maxwell. He’s clearly involved. If he thinks that he’s going to wish her well, he didn’t just know her around Palm Beach. There’s photos of these people together.

Extra Bonus Interview On The Stephanie Miller Show

Stephanie Miller:

I want to talk to you about Senator Richard Blumenthal. You probably saw this, said in advance of the classified briefing I’ll hear later today. This was yesterday. I reviewed classified documents this morning. They are chilling. Declassify this information. Americans deserve and need to

 know about ongoing foreign interference, even sabotage in our election system. You saw that Nancy Pelosi said the same. That you are not telling the American people the truth. I mean they had to squeeze out of him what we all know. That yes, of course, Russia is trying to help Trump again, but what I’m concerned about is. Because obviously they can only say so much when it’s classified, but when they say classified and chilling in the same sentence! Malcolm, only you would know. What are they talking about? Because it’s got to be worse than last time than 2016, right?

Malcolm Nance:
Well let’s put some historical perspective onto this. If you recall, back in 2016 this very month. So it would have been four years ago, yesterday. John Brennan, the director of the CIA, actually was instructed by President Obama to call the director of Russian Intelligence and warn him that we are aware of what he was doing. By stealing emails and releasing disinformation. The Russians of course ignored it. Because Donald Trump had already asked them to come out and steal information and put it into the information sphere.
What we’re seeing now is the Russians, of course, are not holding off on anything. They have been given permission over the last four years to do whatever it takes to assist Donald Trump. So if the intelligence that they saw if they said it was chilling. Well that means that it was something that was most likely actionable that was in process. That could have a direct impact on American citizens, but then again, this very same time four years ago, Mitch McConnell was briefed, exactly as they were briefed. That the Russians were carrying out these activities and he refused to sign on to any joint statement that would threaten Russia or to release information about Russia. That’s why, back in the day, four years ago then. They were using these same phrases. Democrats will not break the law and release classified information. Republicans do it all the time. They’ll come right out and say, hey, we know x y and z. The Democrats always speak in this roundabout way and Republicans know how to trap them by giving them the information, knowing they won’t open their mouths about it. I mean it, really.
Stephanie Miller:
How you must feel, I know how I feel now. You must feel when you see Ron Johnson and Trump repeating Putin’s talking points about us arming the Taliban back in blah blah blah, right? When Trump is asked again in the Jonathan Swan interview, point blank, about Russian bounties and arming the Taliban. But Ron Johnson, who is actively funneling Russian disinformation to try to hurt Joe Biden, right?

Malcolm Nance:
Yep absolutely, and you know there is a technical term that is used in Europe. When you’re trying to describe a politician from a foreign country who was a senior leader who has been bought by russian oligarchs and is now acting as their spokesperson, and that’s called schroderization. Because the former German Premier, Gerhard Schroeder was actually one of those guys. He’s done the full Stephen Seagal thing. Where he’s gone to Russia. He’s surrounded with women and money, and every time he opens his mouth he opens it in defense of Vladimir Putin. It’s so common in Europe for these politicians to be bought they use the word in the paper. Schroederization. You are looking at the schroderization of the Republican Party. Johnson is now a shill for Russian Intelligence. He is a mouthpiece for Vladimir Putin. So is Rand Paul, who actually takes letters over for Donald Trump and they are all becoming these little Donald Trump bought and sold clones. Who have been completely schroederized
Stephanie Miller:
Malcolm, I know this Jonathan Swan cuckoo banana bread interview, but this was the part I wanted you to to see.

Swan:
This ahead piece of intelligence and there is dispute no doubt, there is dispute in the intelligence community about it. Your former John Nicholson former head of forces in Afghanistan said this, when he was working for you, that Russia is supplying weapons to the Taliban. Isn’t that enough to challenge Putin over the killings of US soldiers?
Trump:
Well we supplied weapons when they were fighting Russia too you know. When we were, when they were fighting, when the Taliban went in Afghanistan.
Swan:
It’s a different era.
Trump:
Well it’s a dif- I’m just saying yes because no no i’m just saying we did that too.

Stephanie Miller:
Russian talking point right? Same was when Bill O’reilly said Putin’s a killer. He’s killed a lot of people. So were we. I mean, just, it’s always been so obvious. He’s a Russian asset. That it’s, well somebody’s written a bunch of books about it, yeah. but I was actually looking for the sound bite when he when he said it didn’t reach my desk. You’re like, the very nature of the presidential daily brief is it hits your desk and John Bolton briefed you on it. It’s just him being able to just sit there bald-faced and say, oh no it didn’t reach my desk. It didn’t reach the level. I would have done something if it had. It’s just a lie.
Malcolm Nance:
The man is owned by Vladimir Putin, it’s as simple as that. The Mueller Report never, because it was not in the mandate, they never looked into the link between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. They never looked into the money, possible financial relationship, or personal relationship. Whether he was in debt. I’m telling you, someday we are all going to be apologizing to Benedict Arnold for bad-mouthing him so much. Donald Trump will be found as one of the greatest living traitors in American history. I think that he was, the four years that he’s been there, is what George Washington specifically warned about in his final address, right? That a foreign power would intend to influence our leaders and steer them around by a nose rig. Little did we know that 244 years later, for the first time, an American president was essentially an asset of a foreign power.
Stephanie Miller:
Forget you’ve written three books about it.

It just seems like it’s always been so obvious from every one of his answers and it i don’t know what you were saying about follow the money which is what they always say I think you’re right. A lot of people, Malcolm, didn’t know that it wasn’t in Mueller’s mandate and that SDNY maybe not until now, is looking at the money and you’re right this is all going to come out. Do you think New York is going to get his financials before the election? It looks like they may. I mean, they may. This is moving very quickly.
Malcolm Nance:
The DA, Cyrus Vance is probably going to get that information. Pay no attention to him. The person who he really fears is Laticia James, the Attorney General of the State of New York. She is a pit bull. She went toe-to-toe with Trump when he was making fun of New York state and she tweets right back at him. I think the grudge is deeply held here. I also think that they know that if you get Trump you probably get one or 200 other people who’ve committed fraud against the State of New York. Fraud against the United States government. Look, these people are fighting for their lives here. Their livelihood as well. They are trying to stay out of prison. Which is why this is the most important election in American history.
Stephanie Miller:
That’s why when this story came out, president Trump and his company investigated for possible fraud, you’re like, we’ve heard. We know this. Michael Cohen said it. The New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning piece said it. That his business model has always been fraud. I don’t know how he hasn’t been imprisoned before this, but but you’re right that this is again, and it’s not just it’s bank fraud. It’s wire fraud, it’s insurance fraud.
Malcolm Nance:
You know what kills me? The enablers on the far left media. The Glenn Greenwalds, the Matt Taibis, the Isaac Trothers. Tthese guys are called the Trump-Russia truthers. They flat out question everything that was done. They flat out questioned impeachment. They would go around and of course they called me a fraud a hundred times. Andrew Sullivan, remember that? Yeah, yeah. You know everything. We see this with our own eyes yeah. We see it with our eyes and we literally have a fifth column of Trumpers and other enablers who call themselves the left who say none of the stuff that you saw is true. You’ve wired a conspiracy theory together and every time I open my mouth here’s what I hear from the Trumpsters. It’s a hoax .
Stephanie Miller:
And by the way, this all comes full circle. Before we go. Is in Kamala Harris, I think. Who obviously I don’t know. Malcolm, I know she’s your favorite. I love her. I think she’s certainly rumored to be perhaps his VP pick, but it’s already started. I mean, first of all, you know that her campaign was the number one target of Russian bots that Russia and the Trump campaign were most afraid of Kamala Harris. So I think that was a factor in what happened with her campaign. But here they go again and it’s also with help from the far left. This anti-Kamala stuff and the Russian bots and the fact that you know, and I hate this, whole, as a woman Malcolm, I hate this whole veep stakes. How there’s all this opposition research. Now being dumped against everybody. All these women and trying to turn them against each other. Particularly black women against each other and the good news is they’re not having it. Right?

Malcolm Nance:
Let me tell you oh my favorite part is that a woman who’s ambitious. Ambitious? I want a Wonder Woman like Amazon. I need somebody with a golden lasso and a spear. I want someone who can take command. Because look at all these nations with women leaders. They have the lowest level of coronavirus infection. Hmmm, it’s funny how that works. Maybe it’s time for us to get a number two who will be the executive officer of Joe Biden. Who will go out and get things done. Because this nation is key. If we win this election, and again. If people aren’t, like you said, just in the last segment. People aren’t voting right now. Checking their information right now. Are not committed with their life to go out and vote on election day. Right now, it’s all over they’re going to cheat extraordinarily. So we have to commit ourselves to making sure that we stand up and defend the nation.
Stephanie Miller:
I read Ron Wyden’s. I’m going to keep reading it all morning. Senator Wyden said Donald Trump is sabotaging the Postal Service in an attempt to rig the election in his favor. There are ways to avoid his attempts to suppress your vote. If your state’s using vote by mail in November, request your ballot and vote asap. Or use a local drop box you know. Turn out, turn out, and go ahead.
Malcolm Nance:

I don’t know who it’s going to be, but someone needs to harness the the protest energy we just saw with black lives matter and in mid-October turn out the largest protest in American history. It has to happen, and make it a voter registration drive at the same time. Peaceful with which we’re here to save democracy. Someone has to do this.
